The Christ Child, Center of Our Attention

Dear Friends:

This Christmas, the COVID-19 pandemic that we’ve been dealing with since early 2020 may change our norm in the way we celebrate the Birth of Christ.  Shopping, Christmas decorations, gift exchanges, sumptuous meals and Church services have always been the way we celebrate the Christmas season. These traditions may be changed a bit as we wear masks, shop online, limit our gatherings and attend our Church services via our computers.

Maybe this year we should change our route, just as the Three Kings did. Maybe we should take a different route…one that makes sense of the gift that we receive from God.  One that puts the Christ Child in the center of our attention.

This could be the year that we become humbled and that we step back and focus on Him.  Will we meet Him this Christmas?  Will we recognize Him?  Will we bow to Him this year? Returning a different way has often been a metaphor for the effect that finding Christ has on a person’s life. Just think about how He will affect our lives starting at Christmas and lasting throughout the coming year.

If we focus on Him, we will also shine the spotlight on others, not just on us. Those others can be our brothers and sisters in the 24 countries around the world that the AMAA Mission supports every day. This year in particular, our Christmas Appeal will help our people in Artsakh, Armenia, Syria, and Lebanon where they have faced tremendous trials and tribulations this past year.

We desperately need your help and deeply appreciate your generosity and for all you do throughout the year to help those in need.

Let’s take the “other route” this year.  Let’s follow Him and reflect His love.  And in return, God’s love will flow to you and your family during this Christmas Season.

Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2021 to you and your family.

Քրիստոս ծնաւ եւ յայտնեցաւ. ձեզի, մեզի Մեծ Աւետիս!
