Gyumri Church & Community Center

The new Gyumri Church and Community Center will give strength and light to those who have lost hope due to the earthquake and different tragedies of life.

Word of Appreciation from Gagik Sahakyan, Head of the Spitak Municipality to AMAA

We will soon mark the 30th anniversary of the December 7, 1988 Spitak earthquake. On December 7, 1988 Spitak, which was once a rapidly developing urban city and a touristic center, was erased from the face of the earth in just a few seconds. The people of Spitak lost their loved ones, home, work, and their life savings, but not their faith … Their loss and pain in their hearts, they remained on their land to restore and rebuild…

During the days of that catastrophic earthquake the world united, people understood each other, worked together and overcame the most brutal trials. They rushed to help us from almost every corner of the globe, transforming Spitak into a universal solidarity and mercy zone for which today, the people of Spitak are grateful to all. With the help of friendly nations, the resurrected city, with its new appearance, and with its new street names, has become a real symbol of friendship between peoples.

I want personally and on behalf of our community to thank you and your Association once again, from the distance of 30 years, for supporting us, giving us hope and faith, being with us during our hardship, extending your hand, your humanitarian aid, helping us eliminate the consequences of the disaster and for your invaluable support for the restoration and development of the city. May all nations live in a peaceful and safe world.

A congratulatory note from Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan on the Occasion of the AMAA Centennial.
Republic of Armenia | Shirak Province | Gyumri Municipality

From the bottom of my heart I congratulate the Armenian Missionary Association of America on its 100th Anniversary.

All of us are well aware of the humanitarian work rendered by your Association. Soon after the 1988 catastrophic earthquake, the Armenian Missionary Association of America turned its eyes to the urgent needs of Armenia, supported our people and has done all possible to alleviate the suffering of the earthquake-affected population, rendering assistance in the form of food, clothing, medication, medical supplies and sending volunteers to the earthquake effected regions.

In the center of Gyumri, the magnificent building built by your Association has become yet another new Center that will serve the people of Gyumri, enriching their spiritual as well as their educational and cultural life.

We warmly and gratefully congratulate the Armenian Missionary Association of America for its 100 years of outreach and service. I assure you that we are ready to review and study all your proposals, and within the capacities of the community, support any project and program that will benefit our homeland, our beloved city, and its inhabitants.

By highlighting and appreciating the services provided by the Armenian Missionary Association of America, I want to express my gratitude on behalf of the people of Gyumri and wish you new successes and achievements in the implementation of your patriotic and humanitarian programs.
